Our Values
Community
The On the Fly community is the heart of our organisation. We work together to achieve our goals. We empower the community to be heard, to make change and to take action. We provide space to build and nurture interpersonal relationships. We acknowledge our part in many wider communities and use our voice and our power to provide support. Inclusion We believe that everyone can benefit from impro. We accept and make space for every person who believes in our values and has a willingness to learn. We know that including people of diverse backgrounds and experiences leads to a cohort with diverse thought which leads to better impro. We acknowledge the barriers that exist for many people to join our community and actively provide opportunities that address these. Play We believe in the power of creativity and the freeing nature of engaging in play. We collectively provide a space where everyone can explore, experiment and find joy. We encourage and support anyone engaging in earnest play. |
Respect
We show respect by listening to, acknowledging and engaging each other. We take the time to check in with each other. We respect each other’s boundaries. We build a space where people are safe to bring their whole selves to their learning, their performances and their social interactions. We support and uplift people for having a try. Integrity We are honest and transparent in all of our dealings. We own up to our failures and make amends. We support each other and don’t tear anyone down. We take all feedback on board and respond consistently and accordingly. We work together and ask for help when we need it. Continual Improvement We regularly reflect, review and refine our processes, our curriculum and our values to ensure we achieve our goals. We keep aware of industry standards and apply these to our work when necessary. We provide opportunities for our students to hone their abilities through classes, coaching and performance opportunities. |

Chair
Luke Foale They/Them Luke took their first class with On the Fly in 2021, and has dived in headfirst to both the form and the community. Their passion for impro bleeds into their "normal" life - reading books about impro, listening to podcasts about impro and talking impro for hours to anyone who will listen. During the day Luke works in health and safety for a global facilities management company and has a strong procedural and policy-focussed mindset along with a long history in organisational management, having held board positions at several community organisations over the past decade and a half. Luke loves Tarndanya/Adelaide and strives to help show off our underrated gem of a city, our talent and our culture to the rest of Australia and the world. |

Diversity and Inclusion Director
Kate Gallagher She/Her Kate started coming to On The Fly classes at the end of 2021, and quickly fell in love with the improv community. By day, Kate works in disability support, and she is passionate about the arts being accessible and inclusive for all people. |
Secretary
Amy Heffernan She/Her Amy first encountered impro in high school drama class and loved the silliness and spontaneous shared creation with others. Since starting workshops On The Fly in 2021, Amy has become a passionate community member and as a mental health professional believes the joy fostered by impro is the best form of medicine. |
